Good Start at Meyo for IU Track

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Indiana track and field opened up strong on day one of the Meyo Invitational. Ryan Hindes took second in the 500m with the second-best time in IU history. In addition, two Hoosiers advanced to Saturday finals and IU posted fast times in the men's and women's distance medley relays.
Hindes clocked a time of 1:03.23 for second place. His time is the best by a Hoosier at 500 meters since 1987, when Roger Hunter ran the school record of 1:03.07. Hindes ran the second-fastest 600 meters in school history just a week ago.
Breanne Ehrman, Aireonna Bailey, Ruth Christopher and Kelsey Duerksen posted a time of 11:19.66 for second place in the distance medley relay. The time is the third fastest in school history and the 10th fastest in Division I this season.
In the men's DMR, the Hoosiers took the win in 9:53.74. Adrien Dannemiller, Joshua Moore, Hale O'Herren and Daniel Stockberger ran the relay for IU, with Stockberger coming from behind on the mile-long anchor leg for the win. Stockberger clocked a split of 4:05.7 to outkick Michigan's James Yau by nearly a second.
Shawntanay Johnson clocked the seventh-fastest time in IU history in the 60 meters, advancing to the Saturday final. With her time of 7.71, Johnson improved on her career best for the second-straight meet. Shona Dunkley advanced in the 60m hurdles, clocking a time of 8.89 seconds to take the 10th spot in the 12-woman final.
