BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana men's tennis (5-2) handed No. 34 Vanderbilt (2-3) its second loss of the weekend, besting the Commodores 4-3. No. 27 Indiana got a huge win from sophomore Dimitrije Tasic to close out the win after Vanderbilt had battled back to a 3-3 tie.
In doubles, IU took wins at numbers two and three to seal the point. Josh MacTaggart and Alastair Barnes won 8-5 over Charlie Jones and Jeff Offerdahl at number two and Will Kendall and Stephen Vogl knocked off Alex DiValerio and Joe Dorn at number three by an 8-3 tally.
In singles, MacTaggart jumped out early and buried Gonzales Austin at number two, taking a 6-4, 6-2 win to push the IU lead to 2-0. Vanderbilt evened things up with wins at number six and number one, but Jeremy Langer took down Blake Bazarnik at number three in three sets. After falling 6-2 in the first set, Langer took charge and won 6-3, 6-3 in the second and third.
Up 3-2, the next match to finish saw Barnes fall in three sets to Offerdahl at number five. With the score tied at three, Tasic and Dorn were deadlocked at one set a piece.
Tasic, riding the momentum of a 8-6 tiebreak win in the second set, pushed Dorn in the third and took a pair of breaks early before translating it into a 6-2 win in the third, making the final match score 3-6, 7-6 (6), 6-2.
