BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana men's tennis head coach Randy Bloemendaal signed an outstanding recruiting class for the 2012 season, and TennisRecruiting.net has taken notice. The website, which is the leader on recruiting coverage in collegiate tennis, has rated Indiana's class 15th nationally for 2012.
The signing class includes a pair of top Canadian players and two from the state of Indiana. Sam Monette, currently ranked No. 2 in Canada's graduating class, highlights the class, along with Daniel Bednarczyk who ranks No. 4 in Canada. Elliott Yee of Carmel and Chris Essick of Fishers, will become the first IU players from the state of Indiana since the 2005-06 season.
"I am very excited about our recruiting class for 2012," said Bloemendaal. "I believe they will make a major impact on our program and represent Indiana University at the highest level. I believe these are the right players to keep our program moving forward. A top-15 recruiting class is a big deal, and our success recruiting this class reflects heavily on what the current players on the team have accomplished and culture they are embracing."

He was a finalist in doubles at the 2011 Canadian Junior Outdoor National Championships and a semifinalist in singles at the 2011 Canadian Indoor Championships. He has won one singles title and two doubles titles in ITF tournaments this year.
Yee is the son of King and Peony Yee and attends Carmel High School. He is a four-star prospect and is ranked 98th nationally and second in Indiana by TennisRecruiting.net. He led Carmel to undefeated state championship seasons the past two years.
