AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Indiana University women's golf team put up a round one score of 303 and is fourth after 18 holes of the 54-hole Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga.
University of Texas-San Antonio leads the field with a score of 298, followed by Augusta State (299), Purdue (299) and Indiana. The tournament continues with 18 holes on Saturday and Sunday.
Junior Rosie Davies leads IU after posting a score of 74 on Friday, putting her tied for sixth in the field. Senior Kristtini Cain is tied for 12th after her 18-hole score of 75.
"There is definitely a low number to be had on this course," Davies said. "With the greens, you just have to hit the ball in the right place and you will be putting for birdie."
Freshman Elizabeth Tong continues to have a strong spring showing and is tied for 32nd with a score of 77. She is tied with junior Kate Coons, who also tallied a 77 in round one. Rounding out the group of five is junior Pamela Burneski, who is tied for 69th after shooting an 83.
Competing as an individual, sophomore Sophie Hayashi sits at tied for 45th with a 79 on the leaderboard. Freshman Kamryn Klawitter is also in the field as an individual and is 73rd with a score of 84 on day one.
