AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Indiana University women's golf team posted a score of 310 on Sunday to finish seventh at the Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate at the Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga.
Indiana posted rounds of 303-303-310 in the 54-holes tournament for a score of 916. University of Texas-San Antonio won the event at 880, followed by Augusta State (886), Purdue (887), Kennesaw State (900) and East Tennessee State (906).
"It was a tough day out there," said head coach Clint Wallman. "Pam (Burneski) having to withdraw due to back issues was a real blow to the team. Once on the course, we didn't execute as well as we could have. Rosie (Davies) played well with her 74 and was really rolling early. At the end of the day, playing this course was good preparation for French Lick (site of the 2012 Big Ten Championships)."
Junior Rosie Davies finished tied for 10th with a 74 on Sunday. Davies was the most consistent player for IU, posting a 74 in each of the three rounds for a score of 222, tying her for 10th. It is Davies' third top-10 finish this year.
Freshman Elizabeth Tong made her way into the top 25, finishing tied for 25 with a round of 76 today (77-76-76/229). It is her fourth top-25 showing this year.
Junior Kate Coons tallied a 77 on Sunday to finish tied for 30th (77-76-77/230). Senior Kristtini Cain finished 47th in the field after an 83 on Sunday gave her a score of 235 (75-77-83). Junior Pamela Burneski had to withdraw from the tournament prior to Sunday's round due to a back injury.
Competing as an individual, sophomore Sophie Hayashi tied for 58th with a score of 239 (79-77-83). Freshman Kamryn Klawitter placed 72nd with a tally of 251 (84-75-92).
The Hoosiers have a quick turnaround this week, heading back out onto the course March 23-24 at the MountainView Invitational in Tucson, Ariz.
