Wyckoff, McNaught Earn CWPA Weekly Awards

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Senior Cassie Wyckoff and freshman Colleen McNaught earned notice from the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) for their play during last week's six-game stretch for the No. 11 Indiana Hoosiers women's water polo team, the conference office announced on Tuesday. Wyckoff earned Western Division Co-Defensive Player of the Week and McNaught was named the Western Division Rookie of the Week.
Wyckoff finished the slate of the games with 61 saves, six steals, and three assists in 184 total minutes of action. Her week included four double-digit save performances.
The Los Altos, Calif. native opened the stretch with 10 saves, one assist, and one steal in a 10-6 win over Marist. She followed that up with six saves in 24 minutes of a 14-7 win at Redlands.
Wyckoff notched 12 saves in losses to No. 14 Hawai'i and No. 19 UC San Diego to begin the Aztec Invitational. She followed that up with seven saves and two steals in a loss to No. 8 San Diego State.
She finished the trip with a 14 save outing in a 10-3 win over Wagner, including three steals and an assist.
Wyckoff eclipsed the 1000 career saves plateau during the spring break trip, increasing her school record total to 1039. She has season totals of 287 saves, eight assists, 19 steals, and a 6.54 goals against average.
The award marks the second straight for Wyckoff and the 14th of her career. She shares this week's honor with Michigan's Alex Adamson.
McNaught finished with 10 goals, four assists, four steals, two field blocks, and three earned exclusions during the six games.
McNaught opened things up with a career-high-tying three goals and two earned kickouts against Marist. She followed up with a goal, an assist, a steal, and a field block at Redlands.
The Dana Point, Calif. native notched her fifth career hat trick against Hawai'i, along with an assist, a steal, and a field block.
Against UC San Diego, McNaught recorded her 10th multi-goal game of the season, notching two goals. She also registered an assist, a steal, and an earned five-meter penalty against the Tritons.
McNaught rounded out the Aztec Invitational with a steal against San Diego State, followed by a goal and an assist against Wagner.
The award marks the second for the freshman as she was also named the January 23 Western Division Rookie of the Week.
