A LOOK BACK...
The Hoosiers followed up a 4-0 mark at the Roadrunner Invitational with wins against Marist and Redlands on March 13. Indiana finished up the 10-game spring break trip with a 1-3 record at the Aztec Invitational. The Hoosiers fell to No. 14 Hawai'i, No. 19 UC San Diego, and No. 8 San Diego State, before coming back strong with a 10-3 victory over Wagner.
ECLIPSING 1,000
Senior Cassie Wyckoff lifted her IU career saves record above the 1,000 mark during the Aztec Invitational. The Los Altos, Calif. native recorded 40 saves during the four-game stretch to increase her total to 1,039. Wyckoff's efforts earned her the CWPA Western Division Co-Defensive Player of the Week award. Her 287 stops in 2012 is the fourth most by an Indiana goalie in a single-season. Wyckoff set the single-season record last season with 348 saves.
RECORD CHASE
Sophomore Shae Fournier continues to light up opposing defenses to the tune of 2.63 goals per game. Fournier's 71 goals is tied for fifth on the Indiana single-season scoring list with teammate Jakie Köhli. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native is nine shy of Köhli's school record of 80 goals set in 2010.
TOP ROOKIE
Freshman Colleen McNaught collected her second Western Division Rookie of the Week award after a standout performance during the Hoosiers' last six contests. McNaught is the team leader in assists with 38 on the season, but she has made a habit of finding the back of the net of late. McNaught has posted a hat trick in four of Indiana's last eight contests and has scored in nine of the last 10 games. The freshman has 10 multi-goal games this season.
HOOSIER NOTES
- Sophomore Meghan Lappan tied a career-high with three goals in the Hoosiers' 10-3 win over Wagner in San Diego, Calif. Lappan and Fournier are the only two players to start every game this season for the Cream and Crimson.
- Freshman Shelby Taylor notched a pair of hat tricks at the Aztec Invitational to tie her career-high.
- Fournier made seven field blocks in the win over Wagner to improve her season total to a team-best 82. She also has team-highs in steals (67) and earned exclusions (38).
- The Hoosiers are 7-7 this season against teams ranked in the Varsity Top-20.
- Indiana is 8-0 when grabbing double-digit steals.
