200 Medley Relay
The Hoosier quartet of James Wells, Cody Miller, Steve Schmuhl and Daniel Kanorr finished 12th in a time of 1:27.10 to earn a spot in tonight’s consolation final.
400 Individual Medley
Junior Sam Trahin won his heat and finished third overall by smashing his school record with a time of 3:44.49. That is two seconds better than his record of 3:46.49 set at the Big Ten Championships last month. He will swim in his first-ever championship final at the NCAA meet.
200 Freestyle
Junior Jim Barbiere finished second in his heat and 23rd overall in prelims with a time of 1:36.14. Freshman Steve Schmuhl placed 34th with a prelim time of 1:37.11.
100 Breaststroke
Sophomore Cody Miller put up the fourth-fastest time in school history to win his heat and place sixth overall with a time of 52.78. He will swim in tonight’s championship final.
100 Backstroke
Sophomore James Wells qualified for tonight’s consolation final with a time of 46.85, placing him 10th in the field.
