Hoosiers Second at Mountain View Collegiate

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Indiana women's golf team sits in second place after 36 holes of the Mountain View Collegiate at the Mountain View Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz.
Indian posted rounds of 285 and 291 for a total of 576. Texas Tech leads the field at 570, followed by the Hoosiers, Iowa State (581), Nebraska (584) and Kansas State (585). Tournament play concludes Saturday with an 18-hole shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. ET.
"We played very well today," said head coach Clint Wallman. " We did a good job of managing ourselves and very patient and those were two keys for us today. Each of the girls contributed to the success of the team. It was a very good team effort. I like where they are playing.
"They have a great mental game. They are choosing their shots well and giving themselves good opportunities to score and that is turning into some pretty good numbers. We want to do the same thing tomorrow to give ourselves a chance to be in the hunt."
Junior Rosie Davies paces the Hoosiers after rounds of 68 and 72 have her tied for second with a score of 140. The 68 ties Davies' season low, while the 140 is a 36-hole best for the junior this year.
Junior Kate Coons is tied for 12th with a score of 144. Coons posted identical rounds of 72 to move into the top 15 and is aiming for her second top-15 finish of the season.
Senior Kristtini Cain is tied for 20th at 146. Cain opened the day with a 74, then came back to post an even-par 72 in round two. Freshman Elizabeth Tong is tied for 27th at 148. Tong opened the day strong with a 1-under 71 to match her season low, but stumbled over the final 18 holes of the day with a 5-over 77.
Tied for 43rd is junior Pamela Burneski. Burneski carded a 151, opening the day with a 76 and coming back with a 3-over 75 in round two.
