Big Marks For IU in Texas and West Lafayette

AUSTIN, Texas & WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Indiana track and field posted big marks at both the Texas Relays and the Mike Poehlein Invitational on Friday. Olu Olamigoke posted the nation's sixth best mark in the triple jump this year in Texas and Dan Galos moved within three centimeters of becoming the fifth hammer thrower in IU history to surpass 60 meters, adding 13 feet and five inches to his career best.
Olamigoke hopped skipped and jumped 15.58m (51-1.5) for fourth in the triple jump, which is the sixth best mark in Division I this season. The senior is now just six centimeters away from his career best. Rex Parker took sixth in the competition with a career best 15.40m (50-6.25). He ranks 12th in Division I this season now and the pair of Hoosiers are 1-2 in the Big Ten.
Kind Butler also competed in Texas, narrowly missing out on the finals of the 100 meters with a time of 10.42. He was just .01 out of the last spot in the final. He is now within .19 of his lifetime best, and ranks second in the Big Ten this season.
In West Lafayette, Galos took second in the men's hammer, posting a huge lifetime best of 59.97m (196-9). The mark is 13 feet and five inches better than his previous career best and ranks fifth in IU history.
In the women's hammer throw, Monique Riddick took second place with a heave of 50.62m (166-1), and Kyla Buckley was fourth at 49.51m (162-8). Buckley's throw ranks eighth in IU history. Taja Moore was tenth at 47.39m (155-6), which ranks 10th on IU's all-time list.
