FRANKLIN, Ind. - Sean Stone, a preferred walk-on joining the Indiana men's golf team in 2012-13, captured the 2012 Indiana High School State Championship on Wednesday at The Legends Golf Club after firing a 4-under 140 (71-69) to win by three strokes.
Along with the individual title, Stone led Evansville Harrison to the team championship, finishing three shots ahead of two-time defending champion Brebeuf Jesuit with a 611 (311-300).
Stone got off to a phenomenal start during Wednesday's final round with birdies on seven of his first nine holes en route to a blistering 7-under 29 after starting on the 10th hole.
Stone's final round 69 was one of only two sub-70 scores during the two-round event.
Stone is no stranger to postseason success as he was also a 2010 IHSAA All-State honoree after posting a fifth place finish at the 2010 IHSAA State Championship.
