Julie Cromer Receives National Award for Compliance

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC) honored Senior Associate Athletic Director Julie Cromer on June 25 by presenting her with the Frank Kara Leadership Award. This honor is NAAC's premier award and it is the highest that is bestowed upon a compliance professional.
With this award, NAAC recognized Cromer's exceptional leadership and unique vision for compliance initiatives. She currently serves as the second vice president for NAAC and will soon take over as president for this prestigious group. The award was presented to Cromer at a luncheon during a NAAC convention in Dallas, Texas on Monday.
"Julie Cromer is a tremendous leader who is widely acknowledged to be one of the foremost experts on compliance issues in the country," Indiana University Vice President and Director of Athletics Fred Glass said. "We are thrilled that the National Association for Athletics Compliance gave her this prestigious honor."
At Indiana, Cromer oversees compliance and guides efforts to ensure that IU complies with all NCAA, Big Ten and Indiana University rules, regulations, policies and procedures. She also serves as the department's liaison to governing bodies such as the Big Ten Conference and NCAA, and oversees the department's gender equity plan. Cromer is in charge of the NCAA athletics certification process and serves as IU's athletics certification liaison. Cromer is in her third year with the Indiana athletic department and also serves as Senior Woman Administrator (SWA).
Prior to her current role in Bloomington, Cromer worked at the NCAA national office for over 10 years and served as the NCAA's Director of Academic and Membership affairs for the majority of her tenure. Cromer also spent time at Wright State as an Assistant Athletic Director and SWA and was the Assistant Commissioner and Director of Compliance and Championships for the Horizon league for four years.
