BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Just six days after they took the field for the first time, the Indiana men's soccer team will test its progress as it faces the UIC Flames in an exhibition match at 7:30 p.m. ET Tuesday night on Jerry Yeagley Field at Armstrong Stadium.
Admission to the match is free. The match will also be streamed live on IUHoosiers.com.
The Hoosiers have been hitting the field twice a day since practice began on Aug. 8, as the coaches work to get the team in game shape, as well as determine what the starting lineup might be when the season opens on Aug. 24 at Saint Louis.
The Flames return 13 letterwinners from 2011, including Horizon League Player of the Year Ivan Stanisavljevic. Stanisavljevic finished the 2011 season as the League's leader in points (26), points per game (1.37), goals (10) and goals per game (0.53), while ranking second in assists (6) and shots (55).
UIC also has strong Hoosier ties as head coach Sean Phillips (1992-93) and assistant coach Aleksey Korol (1996-99) were IU letterwinners.
Indiana wraps up preseason play on Saturday as it travels to Fort Wayne for the Shindigz National Soccer Festival, where it will face professional Mexican side Chivas de Guadalajara at 7 p.m. ET. The match will be shown live on Fox Soccer Channel.
