PARK RIDGE, Ill. - Junior midfielder Lisa Nouanesengsy (Huber Heights, Ohio), was named the Big Ten Player of the Week on Monday, the Big Ten Conference announced. She is the first Indiana player to receive the award since Sept. 21, 2009.
Nouanesengsy opened the season on Friday night with a hat trick to lead the Hoosiers to a 3-0 win over Arkansas State at Armstrong Stadium. It is her second career hat trick and she becomes the first player in school history to post two hat tricks in a career.
Then on Sunday, she got the Hoosiers off to a flying start, scoring the game's first goal in the 18th minute by beating a trio of Ohio University defenders and then blasting it past the keeper to put the Hoosiers in front before they pulled away for the 4-2 win. It marks the first time since 2009 that Indiana has started a season 2-0.
The Hoosiers continue their homestand to start the season, playing host to South Florida on Friday night at 7:30pm and then Missouri State at 12:00pm on Sunday.
