BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana Men's Golf team announced its 2012-13 schedule on Tuesday (Aug. 21), featuring a total of 11 regular season tournaments before the Big Ten Championships in French Lick from April 26-28.
"Our schedule is one of the strongest schedules we've had in recent years and will be one of the toughest schedules in the country," head coach Mike Mayer said. "We will play against some of the top programs in the country and it will challenge our team each and every week. I think we have the personnel who will be up for the challenge and we are anxious to get the season started."
The Hoosiers get the season started at the Northern Intercollegiate at Rich Harvest Farms Golf Course in Sugar Grove, Ill., a tournament hosted by Northern Illinois University. Indiana opened last season with a third place finish at this event, carding a 36-over par score of 888.

The following weekend (Sept. 15-16), Indiana will host a very strong field at the Wolf Run Intercollegaite in Zionsville, Ind., at Wolf Run Golf Club. The Hoosiers did not host the tournament last year after hosting it the previous five years. The busy start to the year continues at the Windon Memorial at Skokie Country Club in Glencoe, Ill., a tournament that Indiana has played in each of the past five seasons. Last year, Indiana played to a second place showing at the tournament, falling four shots shy of No. 8 Arkansas.
Rounding out the month of September, Indiana will play at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational at Olympia Fields Country Club in Chicago, Ill., (Sept. 30-Oct. 2). Following a couple weeks off, IU returns to the course at the Isleworth Collegiate at Isleworth Golf Club in Windermere, Fla., in a tournament that always features one of the strongest fields of the year.
In the month of November, the team will travel to the Princeville Warrior/Wave Invitational in Princeville, Kauai, Hawaii, hosted by the Makai Golf Club to close out the fall semester.
Indiana jumps right back into the thick of the season at the Big Ten Match Play Championship (Feb. 8-9) at The Concession Golf Course in Bradenton, Fla. The Hoosiers were seeded third in the tournament last year and defeated No. 6 Ohio before falling to No. 2 Iowa on a tiebreaker in the semifinals.
The Redstone Collegiate Championship (Feb. 22-24) at Redstone Golf Course in Houston and the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular (March 16-17) precede the NYX Hoosier Invitational at the IU Golf Course, which runs from April 6-7. The final tournament before the Big Ten Championships sends the Hoosiers north to the Boilermaker Invitational at Kampen Golf Course, hosted by Purdue University.
Indiana will look to bounce back from a second place finish at last year's Big Ten Championships when the tournament returns to the Pete Dye Course at French Lick from April 26-28 in French Lick, Ind.
The NCAA Regionals will be played May 16-18 at sites to be determined later and then the NCAA Finals will be held at Capital City Club - Crabtree in Atlanta, Ga., from May 28-June 2.
The Hoosiers return nine players that played at least five rounds last year and finished the year ranked No. 33 in the GolfStat rankings after advancing the Greensboro Regional of the NCAA Tournament.
