Hoosiers Win Tight One with Army in Four

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Indiana Volleyball (2-0) remained unbeaten on the young 2012 season with a four-set win over Army (25-20, 25-13, 26-28, 25-23) at the Black Knight Invitational. The Hoosiers got great play from Jordan Haverly in the win, as the junior tallied 21 kills and 12 digs.
Haverly was joined by senior Kelci Marschall with double-digit kills. Marschall had 12 and Samantha Thrower had nine. Freshman setter Katie Gallagher tallied 52 assists, topping the half-century mark for the second-time in two career matches, and she added a team-high 17 digs. Caitlin Hansen added 16 digs and Jade Henderson added 11. Thrower and Morgan Leach both added four blocks in the match.
In set number one, IU rallied from an early deficit to take a tight battle 25-22. Haverly added five kills and Thrower had four to go along with two blocks.
The second set was a similar story, but with Army coming back to take it 25-22. Four Hoosiers had four kills in the set (Haverly, Henderson and Marschall).
The third set saw IU lead most of the way, storming out to a 23-18 lead. Army battle back, but IU took the set 25-22. Haverly had six kills to lead the way for IU.
The Hoosiers dominated in the fourth, hitting .389 with 17 kills to win 25-14. Haverly added six kills in the final set and Thrower had four kills.
