Barbiere Named to 2013 World University Games Team

Indiana University senior Jim Barbiere was named one of 39 swimmers that will represent Team USA at the 2013 World University Games in Kazan, Russia, USA Swimming announced today. The swimming competition will take place July 10-16, while the Games will run from July 6-17.
Barbiere was named to the team as a member of the 4x200 freestyle relay. He earned his spot at the international event with a fifth-place finish in the 200 freestyle at last month's U.S. Open in Indianapolis.
Taking place every two years, the World University Games are an international multi-sport event organized for university athletes by the International Sports Federation (FISU). Swimmers on the 2013 World University Games Team roster were selected based upon their performance at the 2012 U.S. Open Championships. All athletes selected for the team must be at least 17 years old and less than 28 years old on January 1, 2013.
