Hoosiers Visit Queen City To Take On Xavier

RECORD VS. XAVIER
Indiana holds a 7-3 advantage in the all-time series against the Musketeers and have won each of the last five meetings.
The Hoosiers are 1-3 all-time playing on the road against Xavier but won the last meeting in Cincinnati, a 1-0 overtime win on Sept. 9, 2001.
GLOBAL EXPERIENCE
Orianica Velasquez, a senior forward for the Hoosiers, became the first-ever IUWS player to compete in the Olympics when she led Colombia into London this summer. It was the nation's first-ever appearance in the Olympics in women's soccer.
Velasquez was in the starting lineup for all three pool play games in London and tallied nine shots overall, as Colombia failed to advance out of pool play following losses to North Korea, France and United States.
The summer prior, Velasquez helped Colombia to an appearance in the FIFA Women's World Cup. She did not play in the first contest of pool play but came on as a substitute in the second match against the United States and nearly tallied a goal just seconds after entering the field of play. She then started the final game of the tournament against North Korea and was named "Player of the Match" by FIFA.
CANDLER CAN
Rebecca Candler was on the receiving end of both assists by Orianica Velasquez against Missouri State, scoring her first goals since her freshman year.
TWICE AS NICE
On Aug. 26, Orianica Velasquez and Jessie Bujouves both had two assists in the Hoosiers 4-1 victory against Missouri State. It marked the first time an IU player has had two assists in a game since Sept. 5, 2008, when Carly Samp had a pair against Vermont.
YOU LOOK FAMILIAR
Indiana head coach Mick Lyon is entering his 11th season at the helm of the IU women's soccer program after spending the previous eight years at Evansville. He has racked up 193 wins between the two schools and has 93 wins with the Hoosiers entering the 2012 season.
Joining Lyon on the IU sidelines this year will be a couple of familiar faces to IUWS fans. Chloe McKay (2007-10) and Megan Reinhardt (2005-07) will serve as assistant coaches. McKay was a volunteer/student assistant coach with the Hoosiers last year while Reinhardt was the goalkeeper coach at the University of Indianapolis last season.
Xavier head coach Woody Sherwood was also an assistant coach under Mick Lyon at Indiana before taking the position with the Musketeers.
HAT TRICK...AGAIN
Junior midfielder Lisa Nouanesengsy recorded her second career hat trick in the season opener against Arkansas State and wrote her name into the record book. She became the first player in IUWS history to record more than one hat trick in a career. She posted a hat trick as a sophomore against Butler.
She has also found the back of the net this year against Ohio and Missouri State to give her five goals on the season and 11 in her career.
FLOWER IN BLOOM
Shannon Flower, a junior goalkeeper, has been excelling in goal for the Hoosiers this season as she continues to be leaned upon heavily in the defensive third of the field. Against UCSB last weekend, Flower made nine saves to set a career high and post her first solo shutout of the year in the 0-0 draw.
