IU Women's Tennis End Day One at Vanderbilt

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Indiana women's tennis team wrapped up day one of the June Stewart Invitational hosted by Vanderbilt on Friday afternoon. IU picked up a pair of singles wins and a doubles victory on the day.
In doubles, IU's Paula Gutierrez and Gabrielle Rubenstein teamed together to earn a win. The Hoosier duo dominated in their match against a pair of players that came over from the University of Tennessee in Victoria Olivarez and Ashlee Boles. Gutierrez and Rubenstein rolled to an 8-0 victory.
In singles, senior Sophie Garre shined by downing a nationally ranked opponent in No. 71 Georgina Sellyn of Vanderbilt. Garre took the first set, 6-3, but fell in the second 3-6. She then cruised to the win with a 6-2 score in the final set.
Rubenstein was also victorious in singles as she downed UT's Olivarez. Rubenstein dropped the first set before taking care of business in the final two, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Day two of the invite will begin on Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m. ET.
