This weekend the Hoosiers travel to Ohio State for a 1:00 p.m. game vs. the Buckeyes on Saturday and return home for senior day Sunday at 1:00 p.m. vs. Ball State.
Robertson said one thing that defines her senior class is their determination and competitiveness.
“This senior class has a lot of experience,” she said. “They have made a big impact on the program and have played big roles in terms of leadership and what it means to be an Indiana field hockey player. This is a group of different personalities and they have really grown up together through these four years. I would say this is one of the most competitive classes I have had.”
The senior day ceremony will be conducted prior to the game on Sunday and will honor Emily Bowker, Gaby Olshemski, Danielle McNally, Mariella Grote and Hannah Boyer. The Hoosier will also honor senior trainer Kyleah Cochran.
THOUGHTS FROM COACH ROBERTSON ON EACH SENIOR
On senior forward Mariella Grote
“She has the heart of a lion. She loves playing and she loves competing. Her determination, drive and fire on the field are strong and she is always asking what she can do to get better and never settles for less.”
On senior forward Emily Bowker
“She is such a positive person and always sees the silver lining. She wants to make a difference and is always willing to help younger players. She picks people up and people gain a lot of confidence from her.”
On senior forward Gaby Olshemski
“She is a very determined player and although she has had some physical setbacks, you can see her potential and she keeps getting better and better. I have really enjoyed seeing her take on a leadership role this season and helping younger players.”
On senior back Danielle McNally
“Danielle is fearless. She is so gritty and is willing to sacrifice her body. She has the mentality of ‘you are not going to get the ball past me.’ She is one of the toughest players I’ve ever coached. Her drive, determination and competitiveness set a standard for this team.”
On senior defender Hannah Boyer
“Hannah has helped the team in every way you can imagine. She has very high expectations for herself and is always looking for ways to help. It’s almost like having another coach. She is always so supportive and is the glue that holds this team together.”
