Tasic Advances to Final Match of B1G Singles Championships

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Senior Dimitrije Tasic continued his strong play as he won two matches and advanced to the final match at the Big Ten Singles Championship at the Schwartz Tennis Center on Sunday. Sophomore Daniel Bednarczyk also advanced to the final of the singles consolation draw.
Tasic started the day with a 6-1, 6-3 straight set victory against Beau Treyz of Nebraska. In the afternoon Tasic dropped the first set, but came back for a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory over Strong Kirchheimer from Northwestern.
Tasic will battle Mark Kovacs from Purdue in the championship match of the singles main draw at 8:15 a.m. Monday morning at the Schwartz Tennis Center.
Another Hoosier that had a good day was Bednarczyk, who won three matches on the day to advance to the final of the singles consolation draw.
Bednarczyk started the day with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Michigan State's Mac Roy. He then claimed a tie-break victory over Nika Dolidze of Penn State with a score of 6-4, 4-6, 10-5. In his semifinal match Bednarczyk was victorious over Kevin Wong from Michigan, winning the first and third sets, 6-4, 1-6, 6-1.
Bednarczyk will take on Aaron Dujovne of Purdue in the consolation final at 8:15 a.m. Monday morning at the Schwartz Tennis Center.
