BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Hitting the road for the first time in 2013, Indiana (3-2, 1-0 Big Ten) heads to Michigan State (4-1, 1-0 Big Ten) on Saturday, Oct. 12. Kickoff is set for noon EDT at Spartan Stadium (75,005; Grass) on ESPN2. The Old Brass Spittoon has been awarded to the IU-MSU winner since the trophy's inception in 1950. 
THE COACHES
Kevin Wilson is in his third season as head coach at Indiana. Wilson spent the 2002-10 seasons at Oklahoma, where he served as co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach from 2002-05 and as offensive coordinator and tight ends and fullbacks coach from 2006-10.
Mark Dantonio is 55-29 (.655) in his seventh season as head coach at Michigan State. Dantonio served as Cincinnati's head coach from 2004-06 and carries an overall record of 73-46 (.613).
NEWS & NOTES
• MSU leads the overall series, 42-15-2, and holds a 42-12-1 advantage in Old Brass Spittoon meetings.
• The Spartans own a 22-6-1 edge in East Lansing. Indiana last won at Michigan State in 2001 (37-28 on Nov. 10) and last defeated MSU in 2006 (46-21 on Oct. 28).
• The Hoosiers earned their first victory over Penn State, 44-24, last weekend.
• The win marked IU's first in a Big Ten opener since the 2000 season against Iowa.
• Indiana scored 21 points in the first 4:30 of the fourth quarter and tallied 23 points overall in the stanza, the most in the final 15 minutes since a 28-point outburst against Kentucky on Sept. 15, 1990.
• The Hoosiers threw for 336 yards, marking the fifth time in 2013 and the seventh consecutive contest they have exceeded 300 passing yards - a school record. Nate Sudfeld (321) surpassed 300 yards for the third time.
• A week after Shane Wynn eclipsed 100 receptions and 1,000 yards, Kofi Hughes become the 19th Hoosier to reach both milestones. Hughes now has 103 catches and 1,512 yards.
• Wynn, Hughes, TE Ted Bolser and Cody Latimer each own over 1,000 career yards. Indiana has never had four 1,000-yard receivers on the same team.
• For the third straight week, Latimer went over 100 yards and posted career-highs with 140 yards and nine receptions. He is the first Hoosier since James Hardy in 2005 to claim three straight 100-yard games.
• The IU defense limited Penn State to 4.4 yards per play, forced a pair of fumbles, recovered one, collected one sack, six tackles for loss, 12 pass breakups and one safety.
• PSU was limited to just 70 rushing yards on 38 carries, a 1.8 average.
• Cornerback Tim Bennett ranks first nationally with 14 pass breakups. Bennett is also tied for 12th in the Big Ten with 7.2 tackles per game and shares sixth with his one fumble recovery.
