Hoosiers Close Strong at WMU Super Challenge

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Indiana women's tennis team completed its final day of the fall season in strong fashion at the Western Michigan Super Invitational on Sunday. The Hoosiers went 7-1 in singles to close the tournament.
Indiana's Gabrielle Rubenstein was dominant in her 6-3, 6-0 win over WMU's Caroline Aleck. Kim Schmider also won in straight sets as she downed Colorado's Carla Manzi Tenorio, 6-4, 6-2.
IU's Paula Gutierrez stood tough in her 6-4, 6-4 triumph over Alexandra Aiello of Colorado. Alecia Kauss cruised in her first set en route to a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Marquette's Ali Dawson.
It took a third set for Indiana's Sophie Garre to take down Notre Dame's Mary Closs, 6-3, 5-6 (3), 1-0 (7). Katie Klyczek gave up just one game in her 6-1, 6-0 romp of Ana Pimienta of Marquette.
Indiana will next play when it hosts the IU Winter Invitational on January 18-20.
