BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana field hockey junior Audra Heilman has been named an IU Scholar-Athlete of the Month for October.
On the field Heilman was named a First Team All-Big Ten selection and tied the Hoosiers school record for assists in a season with 12.
Off the field, Heilman is an Elementary Education major, who academic advisor Eileen O’Rourke said handles athletics and academics very well.
"Audra is an elementary education major, which requires her to spend added time outside of class working with children in the local schools," O’Rourke said. "Audra has been able to seamlessly take on those additional commitments during her travel season and continue to maintain high marks in all her classes. Audra has been a perfect example of what it means to be a student-athlete, excelling in both athletics and academics. Her future in education is bright and I know she will make a significant impact on the lives of her students."
“Audra has built habits of excellence into everything that she does,” IU head coach Amy Robertson said. “Everything good that comes her way she has earned and worked very hard to achieve. She will be a great example and inspiration to the students whom she will teach in the future.”
The Indiana field hockey team has had four honorees named Scholar-Athletes of the Month over the last year, including senior Hannah Boyer, junior Corinne Karch and sophomore Karen Lorite.
