Schwarber Tabbed First Team Preseason All-America

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Junior catcher Kyle Schwarber is the top collegiate backstop in the country entering 2014 according to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Preseason All-America Teams released Wednesday (Dec. 18). The NCBWA selected Schwarber as its First Team catcher.
Schwarber maintains his slot on the NCBWA All-America First Team, claiming that honor following the 2013 season. He earned First Team honors from Perfect Game as well, while being tabbed Louisville Slugger Second Team All-America by the Collegiate Baseball newspaper.
The Middletown, Ohio native paced the Big Ten in a multitude of statistical categories last season as a sophomore: 18 homeruns (3rd nationally), 65 runs (13th), 152 total bases (16th), .647 slugging percentage (19th), .456 OBP and 42 walks.
Indiana begins the 2014 campaign in just 57 days, heading to Lubbock, Texas for a four-game weekend series at Texas Tech from Feb. 14-16.
