LEWISBURG, Penn. - Pennsylvania native Shelley St. Omer Roy scored her first goal of the season for No. 12 Indiana in their 12-3 win against Villanova during the Bison Invitational at the Kinney Natatorium. St. Omer Roy was one of eight different players who scored for the Hoosiers.
"Things really started clicking for us the second half. It was nice to get the goal. Carson had a good look and made a great pass. She got me the ball right where it needed to be. Hopefully this spark on offense will carry over tomorrow," said St. Omer Roy.
Freshman goalie Mary Campbell got her first start ever in an Indiana uniform and tallied up two saves and a steal on the Wildcats' 13 shots on goal. What's more, Villanova was only able to score during one of their seven 6-on-5 situations.
Center Amanda Redfern led the way for Indiana on offense scoring a hat-trick. Sophomores Shelby Taylor and Colleen McNaught each had two, and Summer Creighton, Meghan Lappan, Shae Fournier, Shelley St. Omer Roy, and Candyce Schroeder all had one. Eight Hoosier total were able to put points on the scoreboard.
IU controlled the ball for the majority of the match, rarely giving the Wildcats chances on offense. The Hoosiers took 34 shots on goal compared to Villanova's 13.
Indiana's field defense was over-powering as well. The Hoosiers had 20 steals in their match. Jakie Kohli had five alone and Shae Fournier had four.
