BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Seven Hoosier swimmers took to the pool Friday afternoon in a split-squad dual meet vs. Evansville at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center.
With Indiana only entering its swimmers in eight of 15 events, the Hoosiers won seven of those with the score 155.5-78.5 in favor of the Purple Aces.
The Hoosiers went 1-2 in their first event of the day, the 100 backstroke. Curtis Goss was the winner in 51.67, with Murray Crabtree second at 52.13. The only Hoosier in the 100 breaststroke, Henry Fellows took the win in 57.03.
Nolan Roach was victorious in the 50 freestyle, racing to a time of 21.94. John Winck placed third (21.94) and Seth Kurz tied for fourth at 22.38. Roach added a win in the 100 free with a time of 46.47, with Winck third (46.90).
Goss and Crabtree easily finished 1-2 in the 200 backstroke with Goss winning in 1:51.99 and Crabtree second at 1:54.25. Fellows was second in the 100 fly with a time of 50.56, with Goss third (51.33) and Winck fourth (53.06).
Michael Mohler closed the Hoosiers' day with a win in the 400 IM, lapping two of the three other swimmers in the field with a time of 3:57.59.
The majority of the men's squad will face Purdue on Saturday at 12 ET in West Lafayette.
