BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Sophomore Colleen McNaught was named CWPA Conference Player of the Week on Wednesday evening for the week of March 11-17. McNaught had an impressive weekend in California, including helping the Hoosiers to an upset over No. 8 Hawaii.
McNaught finished the weekend with nine goals, 11 assists, and nine steals.
McNaught's biggest game of the weekend came in Indiana's heartbreaking loss to No. 7 San Diego State. The Hoosiers were less than two minutes shy of upsetting the Aztecs for their biggest win of the season before two last minute penalties gave SDSU the edge. Colleen McNaught had three goals on only five shots in that match and dropped three perfectly timed assists compared to only one turnover.
McNaught made a habit of finding open teammates in position to score during her debut season in 2012. The Dana Hills, Calif. native lead the team with 51 assists, which is third on the IU all-time single-season assists list. Brooke Zimmerman holds the school record with 56 dimes in 2008.
McNaught also tied the record for most assists in a single game with 5. McNaught has started every game for the Hoosiers thus far in the 2013 season and has 21 goals, 29 assists, nine steals, and 19 steals so far.
The Hoosiers travel to Erie, Penn. to compete against Notre Dame College and Gannon this Saturday at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm EST.
