BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana University senior Kate Coons was named the Big Ten Golfer of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday. It is her first Big Ten Player of the Week award.
Coons posted a fourth-place finish at the 18-team Briar's Creek Invitational this past Monday and Tuesday. After opening with a 78, Coons took three strokes off her score with a 75 in round two.
As a team the Hoosiers finished fifth (315-307-296) with a tally of 918. That was tops among the three Big Ten teams in the tournament field and just four shots out of second place.
