POMONA, Calif. - Plenty of offense keeps Indiana on track in their four game winning streak as they edge out Occidental 12-7 in game number three of the Claremont Convergence at Haldeman Pool. The four game streak is the longest winning streak for the Hoosiers so far this season.
It took less than 24 seconds to put up points on the board as Rebecca Gerrity scored almost immediately off the pass from Jakie Kohli.
Junior Shae Fournier, the team's leading scorer last season, had her second game in a row scoring four goals on only four shots. Fournier has now moved into fifth on Indiana's all-time scoring list with 184 in her career. She passed Nicole Redder who had 182 and only needs 24 to pass Brook Zimmerman for fourth.
Freshman Candyce Schroeder also had a big game for the Hoosiers with one goal, two beautiful assists, and two early earned kick-outs. All of this, along with goals from Meghan Lappan, Jakie Kohli, Rebecca Gerrity, and Carson Nestler gave the Hoosiers a 9-3 lead heading into halftime.
The freshman goalie duo of Jessica Gaudreault and Mary Campbell ended with match with four and three saves respectably. Gaudreault also had one steal and one assist in the opening half.
Not wasting any momentum, sophomore Shelby Taylor scored two quick goals for the Hoosiers in the third and Summer Creighton added one to seal the win and make the Hoosiers 10-8 on the season.
Indiana will face Redlands at 2:20 pm PST.
