ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT
Indiana has played in the Boilermaker Invitational in eight of the last nine seasons and has finished no worse than a tie for sixth in those appearances. The Hoosiers are the defending champions at this event, posting rounds of 301-294-282 for a team score of 877 and a two-shot win over Iowa last year. The Hoosiers also won this tournament in 2006.
The tournament will be played over two days, with 36 holes played on Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday. Both days will begin with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m. ET.
THE FIELD THIS WEEK
The Hoosiers will be part of a 18-team field that will feature a number of other schools from the Midwest Region. The teams include:
Akron, Chicago State, Cleveland State, Creighton, Drake, Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kent State, Louisville, Loyola, Miami (Ohio), Michigan State, Northern Illinois, Purdue, Toledo, Wichita State
HOOSIERS IN THE RANKINGS
Indiana enters this weekend's tournament ranked No. 55 in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings. In the Golfstat rankings, the Hoosiers checked in at No. 67 this week.
LAST TIME OUT
The last time IU took to the course, they came away with a five stroke victory on their home course at the NYX Hoosier Invitational, the third victory of the year for the Hoosiers. David Mills led the way for Indiana with a T2 finish at 4-under par while Brant Peaper finished eighth at 1-under for the tournament
The Indiana "B" team finished sixth and was paced by Andrew Fogg, who claimed medalist honors for the tournament with rounds of 65-75-68 to finish 5-under par. It was the first tournament win for Fogg and the round of 65 matched the season-low by a Hoosier (Peaper at Wolf Run). Sean Stone also played well, finishing in a tie for sixth at 2-under par.
BIG TEN GOLFER OF THE WEEK
For his performance two weeks ago at the NYX Hoosier Invitational, Andrew Fogg was named Big Ten Golfer of the Week by the conference. It was his first weekly award from the Big Ten and the fourth time this year that an IU golfer has received the award (Peaper - twice, McGee - once).
