BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana women's basketball redshirt senior Sasha Chaplin has been granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA and will play her final season in a Hoosier uniform in 2013-14.
Chaplin was injury plagued early in her IU career as she missed 24 games as a freshman in 2008-09, had to sit out 10 games in 2009-10 and made an appearance in just two games midway through the 2010-11 season before going down with another injury. However, in the last two seasons, Chaplin has appeared in 59 of Indiana's 60 contests.
This last season, Chaplin was second on the team in field goal percentage as she shot 45.2 percent from the field while averaging 6.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. For her career, the St. Petersburg, Fla., native has averaged 7.6 points and 5.6 boards per contest while shooting 46.1 percent from the field in 89 career games.
Chaplin is currently working on getting her graduate degree through the School of Informatics in Human Computer Interaction and Design.
