IU Women's Golf Selected for NCAA Central Regional

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana University women's golf team heads to the postseason as it was one of 24 teams selected to compete in the NCAA Central Regional on the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Course in Norman, Okla. Tournament play runs May 9-11.
"I am so excited for our team and for the program," said head coach Clint Wallman. "They have worked so hard and it is really gratifying to see them accomplish one of their goals."
Indiana was one of seven Big Ten teams selected to the postseason, joining Purdue, Northwestern, Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan State and Ohio State. Michigan State and Wisconsin join the Hoosiers in the Central Regional, with Northwestern and Penn State in the East Regional and Purdue and Ohio State in the West Regional.
The Hoosiers make their first NCAA postseason appearance since 2010 and fourth overall under the direction of Wallman.
A total of 72 teams were selected for postseason play, with 24 teams assigned to each region. Joining Indiana, Michigan State and Wisconsin in the Central Regional are Duke, Oklahoma, Florida, Washington, Arizona State, UC Davis, Texas Tech, NC State, Iowa State, SMU, Campbell, Coastal Carolina, Wake Forest, TCU, UT San Antonio, Mississippi State, Lamar, Illinois State, Detroit, Butler and Gonzaga.
Indiana is coming off a fifth-place finish at the Big Ten Championships on the Donald Ross Course at French Lick Resort. Senior Kate Coons led the way for the Hoosiers, placing tied for 20th. Freshman Marissa DeCola tied for 26th at her first Big Ten Championships, while sophomore Elizabeth Tong tied for 32nd.
Eight teams and two individuals from each regional will advance to the championships finals, May 21-24 at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga.
