Wagner Earns Second Team All-Big Ten Honors

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Amanda Wagner of the Indiana softball team was named second team All-Big Ten today, the Big Ten Conference announced. The honor is the second for Wagner after she earned second team accolades in 2012. Meaghan Murphy was also recognized as the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award nominee.
Wagner has posted a career-year this season. The senior leads Indiana in batting average in both overall (.414) and Big Ten (.393, 5th B1G) games. She has reached base in 20 of Indiana's 22 conference games for the fifth-best on-base percentage in the B1G (.590) and reached in 44-of-50 of Indiana's overall contests to help her to a .561 on-base percentage, which ranks in the top-10 in the country. On the season, Wagner ranks near the top of several offensive categories amongst Big Ten hitters, including batting average (.414, 5th), on-base percentage (.561, 3rd), slugging percentage (.648, 12th), doubles, (16, 2nd), walks (33, T-7th) and hit by pitch (11, T-5th). The Burbank, Ill. native as named B1G Player of the Week for the second time of her career on March 18 after hitting .778 with three multiple-hit games and a 1.333 slugging percentage.
