BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana head women's basketball coach Curt Miller has announced the additions of Jimmy Colloton and Azjah Bass to his staff. Colloton rejoins the program in a full-time capacity as video coordinator after serving as a graduate assistant for the last two years. Bass will take Colloton's former position and become the program's graduate assistant.
"I am excited to announce the addition of Jimmy and Azjah to our staff and basketball family," Miller said. "Jimmy is a talented coach and did a fantastic job as our graduate assistant last season. He also assisted our former video coordinator, Patrick Henry, which will allow for a smooth transition into his new role. Azjah comes highly recommend and I have truly enjoyed getting to know her over the last few weeks. I believe she will be a great role model for our players after enjoying an outstanding prep and collegiate career in the state of Indiana. My staff now includes two former Indiana All-Stars, continuing to show our commitment to building with Hoosiers."
Colloton, a native of Arlington Heights, Ill., will begin his third year with Indiana women's basketball on June 21. As a graduate assistant for IU women's basketball the last two seasons, Colloton oversaw the team managers and coordinated the male practice players. He also assisted Miller with game scheduling and worked alongside the video coordinator.
Prior to arriving at Indiana, Colloton graduated from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, with a degree in economics and a minor in business. While at Wittenberg, Colloton served as student assistant coach for the men's basketball team helping the Tigers to the second round of the 2011 Division III NCAA Tournament. The Wittenberg men's basketball program is the all-time winningest Division III program in the country and is also the all-time leader in NCAA Tournament appearances in Division III. His duties included serving as bench coach for all varsity and junior varsity games, coordinating video, evaluating and hosting recruits while also assisting with player development and team travel.
Bass, a native of Indianapolis, Ind., will begin her role as graduate assistant with the program on June 24. Bass played college basketball at Butler University (2008-11). She was a team captain her senior season and helped lead the Bulldogs to WNIT appearances in each of her four years. She graduated from Butler with a Bachelor of Arts degree in physical education.
Over the last year, Bass has been on the basketball staff at Lincoln Trail Junior College in Robinson, Ill. She served as associate head coach last season and spent one month as the interim head coach. Prior to her stop at Lincoln Trail, Bass was an assistant director for Adidas Grassroots Girls Basketball in Fishers, Ind. She oversaw the organization of Adidas basketball tournaments and assisted in the execution of each of those events.
Bass had a decorated high school career at Lawrence North and was an Indiana All-Star after her senior season in 2007. She is one of two members of Miller's staff to have played in the Indiana-Kentucky high school all-star series as Liz Honegger, the program's director of operations, was also an Indiana All-Star in 2003. Along with these two on staff, Miller will have six players on the IU roster next season that have played in the Indiana-Kentucky all-star games.
