Miller Posts Top-8 Finish at World University Games

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana University senior Cody Miller made his first championship final at an international event, placing seventh in the 100-meter breaststroke Thursday at the World University Games in Kazan, Russia.
Miller clocked a time of 1:01.17 in the final, posting the fourth-fastest time in IU history in the event. His semifinal time of 1:01.22 ranks fifth on the all-time Indiana list.
Miller is one of several Indiana swimmers and divers competing at the World University Games. Senior James Wells finished seventh in his semifinal heat of the 100 backstroke (55.32), while senior Eric Ress, who is representing France, placed sixth in his 100 back semifinal at 55.07.
In the diving well, recent graduate Casey Johnson finished 12th in the men's platform competition (286.70), while senior Conor Murphy placed 15th in the semifinal round (321.10). In the synchronized platform final on Thursday, Johnson and Murphy placed sixth with a score of 334.08. Also competing in Russia, senior Cassidy Kahn is representing Israel and placed 20th in the prelims of the 1-meter springboard event (201.95). She also placed 16th in the 3-meter springboard with a score of 208.60.
