BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana redshirt sophomore Claire Jakubicek will miss the 2013-14 women's basketball season due to an ACL tear in her right knee. Jakubicek sat out last year due to NCAA transfer rules and would have been eligible to play this fall.
"We are disappointed that Claire will miss the upcoming season with her recent ACL injury," head coach Curt Miller said. "She had worked hard during her transfer season and was prepared to be an impact player on the court for our young roster in 2013-14. We have no doubt she will attack her rehab process and be ready to contribute in the future."
Jakubicek transferred to Indiana in the summer of 2012 from Northern Illinois University where she was named Mid-American Conference (MAC) Freshman of the Year after the 2011-12 season. She paced NIU that year in scoring with 11.0 points per game while shooting 46.3 percent from the field and a team-leading 95.9 percent from the free throw line. The Cary, Ill., native also grabbed 5.1 rebounds per contest, the second-best mark for the Huskies.
