Indiana University has 13 student-athletes competing for
four different countries and in five different sports at the World University Games in Kazan, Russia. The World University Games take place every two years, putting the world's top collegiate athletes in competition to earn medals for their native countries.

Senior Will Sheehey (Stuart, Fla.) and sophomore Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell (Indianapolis, Ind.) were both named to the
12-man roster for the USA Men's Basketball team that will compete in the 2013 World University Games. They are the only two players from the same school on the team and are the first IU players to make the team since Brian Evans in 1995.

Sheehey was named the Sixth Man of the Year in the Big Ten last year, as he averaged 9.5 points and 3.5 rebounds off the bench for the Hoosiers on their way to the 21st Big Ten regular season championship in program history and first outright title since 1993. Ferrell started every game as a freshman and averaged 7.6 points, 4.1 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game on his way to being named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team.

The USA will take on UAE at 6:30 p.m. (times listed are local; Kazan, Russia, is +8 hours from EDT) on July 7; followed by Czech Republic at 1 p.m. on July 8; and Sweden at 9 p.m. on July 10; Australia at 6:30 p.m. on July 11; and Canada at 1 p.m. on July 12.

Following the preliminary round, the first and second-placed teams in each of the four pools advance to the medal quarterfinals on July 14 to compete for first through eighth places; while the remaining teams will play out for ninth to 24th places. The semifinals will be played on July 15, and the finals will be contested on July 16.

Four Hoosier swimmers will swim for World University Games gold, as Cody Miller and James Wells will don the Red, White and Blue for Team USA, Eric Ress will swim for France and Brooklynn Snodgrass will compete for Canada. Miller will swim the 50, 100 and 200 breaststroke, Ress will swim for Team France for the second time this summer, as he swam the Mediterranean Games in Turkey in June, Snodgrass is in the 100 backstroke and Wells is in the 50 and 100 backstroke.

Three IU divers will compete at the World University Games, including Casey Johnson and Conor Murphy for Team USA and Cassidy Kahn for Israel. Johnson and Murphy will compete in the 10-meter synchro, Kahn just wrapped up her freshman campaign for the Hoosiers.

Isade Juneau will represent his native Canada in the World University Games, playing in his first round match at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9. Singles play continues through the men's final on the 16th.

Emma Kimoto represents IU track and field in Russia, competing for her native Canada. The senior will wrap up her career as one of IU's all-time best female high jumpers, competing in the event's prelims on July 10 and finals on July 12.

The Indiana water polo team will send three athletes to the World University Games, as Shae Fournier, Shelby Taylor and Jessica Gaudreault will compete for Canada at the games.

In the preliminary round, Canada will battle in Pool A against Italy (July 6), host Russia (July 8) and Japan (July 10). The medal round begins on July 12 with the quarterfinals followed by the semifinals on July 14 and the championship match on July 16.
