BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana's Kelsey Duerksen, a member of the IU women's cross country team, was named Big Ten Runner of the Week by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. It is Duerksen's first weekly cross country Big Ten honor of her career and her fourth overall (three in track).
Duerksen crossed the line in first place at the Indiana Intercollegiate meet on Sept. 20 at the IU Championship Cross Country Course in Bloomington. She clocked in at a time of 17:28 in the 5K run, winning the individual title for the second straight season.
As a team, the Indiana women placed first overall at the meet with a combined team score of 21 points, marking the fifth consecutive year the Hoosiers have taken home the team title at the Intercollegiate.
The Hoosiers will next compete at Lehigh University in the Lehigh Paul Short run on Saturday, Oct. 5.
