BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Day two of the 2013 Hoosier Classic hosted by the IU women's tennis team took place on Saturday. The Hoosiers picked up nine singles wins on the day and eight doubles victories.
Alecia Kauss was a winner again in singles on Saturday over Western Michigan's Kathleen Hawkins. IU's Shannon Murdy cruised to a win, as did Kim Schmider and Kayla Fujimoto. Gabrielle Rubenstein earned a 6-4, 6-3 triumph, topping Cincinnati's Katya Bure.
Indiana's Sophie Garre dominated in her match over Kansas State's Amina St. Hill, 6-0, 6-0. Katie Klyczek had the same fortune with a 6-2, 6-0 win over UC's Ashleigh Witte.
Freshman Paula Gutierrez picked up her first collegiate victory over Ankita Bhatia of Eastern Michigan, 6-1, 6-2. Carolyn Chupa also earned her first singles win of the weekend.
In doubles, IU combos won eight matches on the day..
The final day of the Hoosier Classic will commence on Sunday morning at the IU Varsity Tennis Courts. Play will begin at 10 a.m. ET.
