IU Swim and Dive Plays Host to Louisville

The Indiana men's and women's swimming and diving teams will play host to Louisville on Friday, Jan. 31 beginning at 5 p.m. ET at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center in Bloomington. This will be the final dual meet of the season for the Hoosier women as they prepare for the 2014 Big Ten Championships, Feb. 19-22 in Minneapolis, Minn.
About the Meet
The Indiana men (4-4) are No. 8 in the latest College Swimming Coaches Association of America top-25 released on Jan. 22. Louisville comes in at one spot ahead of the Hoosiers at No. 7. On the women's side, IU (7-3) is ranked 11th, with Louisville at No. 14.
Friday's meet will begin at 5 p.m. ET at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center. Admission is free, and parking is available in the Sunrise Lot located off 10th Street, across the street from the facility. Live results will be available at IUHoosiers.com.

Last Time Out... The Indiana women took down in-state rival Purdue on Jan. 25 by a 154.5-135.5 score. The Hoosiers won 12 of 16 events, including multiple wins from Brooklynn Snodgrass, Lindsay Vrooman, Bronwyn Pasloski and Gia Dalesandro.
Snodgrass won titles in the 200 medley relay, 400 free relay, 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke. Vrooman was the winner in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle, and was also a member of the winning 400 free relay. Dalesandro continued her hot streak with victories in the 200 medley relay, 100 butterfly, 200 butterfly and 200 individual medley. Pasloski swept the breaststroke events, taking the 100 and 200.
In diving action, Kate Hillman was second on the platform and third on the 1-meter springboard.
The IU men last competed on Jan. 18 as they posted wins over Iowa and Missouri. Eric Ress was named the Counsilman-Hunsaker Swimmer of the Week by CollegeSwimming.com with an NCAA B cut and victory in the 200 backstroke, a win in the 200 IM and a second-place finish in the 100 backstroke.
Anze Tavcar took home Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors after the meet, putting up wins in the 50 free, 100 free and 400 free relay. Tavcar posted a season-best and NCAA B cut time of 20.18 in the 50 free, then added an NCAA provisional time of 44.21 in the 100 free. He teamed with James Wells, Jackson Miller and Mike Hurley to win the 400 freestyle in 2:59.34.
Other IU winners in the victories over Iowa and Missouri were James Wells in the 100 backstroke (47.54-NCAA B cut), Steve Schmuhl in the 200 fly (1:47.36-NCAA B cut), Darian Schmidt (3-meter springboard), Jackson Miller (500 freestyle-4:30.37) and Cody Miller (100 butterfly-49.12).
Last Time vs. the Cardinals...
In 2013, the IU women posted a 160-140 win over Louisville in Louisville, Ky. The men were also victorious by a 193-107 score.
Up Next... The Hoosier men will wrap up their dual meet schedule on Feb. 8 as they play host to the Purdue Boilermakers. The meet begins at 11 a.m. ET at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center and will be shown live on the Big Ten Network. Tim Neverett will handle play-by-play duties, with Olympic Gold Medalist Rowdy Gaines serving as color analyst.
