BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Scouts from more than 20 Major League Baseball teams were present Wednesday afternoon for Indiana's Pro Scout Day at Bart Kaufman Field.
"It shows that they have a general concern for our program," first-year pitching coach Kyle Bunn said. "They understand that we have a lot of quality players that are here. It's a great day for our kids to get some exposure. We have guys that are and will be continuing to play at a high level. Today is about the kids and them getting to experience being able to perform in front of professional scouts."
Eight Hoosiers have been drafted by MLB organizations throughout the last two years, including four players in the first five rounds.
"They already know this program," Bunn said of the scouts in attendance. "They know what this program has done the last two years. They know the players that are here. A lot of them are just basically following up on the guys they need to follow up on. Some are getting looks at our younger players. It gives our younger players a great opportunity to shine at an early age. Then there are some guys who are good players that may not have been in the fire so to speak as much so it gives them exposure as well. The overall dynamic is a pretty good opportunity for this program."
