Golf Travels to Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invite

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Indiana women's golf team begins three-straight weeks of competition with the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational, October 12-14 at the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin, Texas.Indiana is one of 15 teams in a field that features five ranked in the top 50, led by No. 16 UNLV and No. 17 San Diego State. Also competing is No. 40 Texas, No. 45 Miami, No. 50 Minnesota, No. 53 SMU, No. 55 Iowa State, No. 68 Tulane, No. 82 Tulsa, No. 85 UC Irvine, No. 101 UTSA, No. 112 Baylor, No. 121 UNCW and No. 123 New Mexico. Indiana is currently 107th in the GolfWeek rankings.

The Hoosiers will send five golfers led by senior Elizabeth Tong, who currently ranks 44th individually in the NCAA. Tong is coming off a top-15 finish at the Powerade Cougar Classic, including a round of 68 to finish at 2-under par for the tournament.
Junior Maria Mancini makes her team tournament debut for the 2014-15 season, playing in the No. 2 spot. Mancini competed as an individual at the Cardinal Classic, finishing tied for 36th, and had a strong week of qualifying for the Hoosiers.
Also making her team tournament debut for the season is sophomore Ana Sanjuan. Sanjuan joined Mancini as an individual at the Cardinal Classic where she tied for 15th after rounds of 78 and 74.
Freshman Alix Kong makes her second-straight tournament appearance. After her collegiate debut at the Powerade Cougar Classic, Kong has continued to impress with her work ethic and improvement during qualifying competitions.
Rounding out the lineup is another freshman in Taylor Howerton. Howerton also made her first college appearance at the Powerade Cougar Classic, where she posted a low round of 79.
