BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -
Senior goalkeeper Maggie Olson was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced today.
"We're excited for Maggie to receive this honor," said Indiana head coach Amy Robertson. "She's worked very hard, she's very deserving and she's a huge part of our team's success this year. She's playing great and she gives this team a chance to win every game we are in."
The Springfield, Pa. native allowed just one goal and recorded six saves in Indiana's 2-1 victory against No. 20 Michigan State on Saturday.
On the season, Olson has recorded 64 saves and allowed just 17 goals in 12 games for the Hoosiers. She has also picked up three shutouts and has compiled a .790 save percentage on the year.
After recording eight saves in Indiana's victory against No. 4 Duke on Oct. 5, the senior joined just three others in Indiana program history to record 200 career saves.
Olson was selected as Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 18, 2012 after allowing just one goal in 100 minutes of play and making six saves in Indiana's 2-1 shoot-out victory against No. 22 California.
