NOBLESVILLE, Ind. --The Indiana women's golf team finished fourth overall after two days of match play at its own Hoosier Fall Invitational at Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville, Indiana.
Indiana and Ball State squared off in the third place match on Sunday, with senior Elizabeth Tong defeating Jenna Hague 7&6 in the first match. In match No. 2 junior Ana Sanjuan was defeated by Ball State's Allison Lindley, 4&3.
Ball State also took matches No. 3 and No. 4 to clinch the victory, with Kesley Sear over sophomore Theresa-Ann Jedra 1 up through 19 holes. In the fourth match, Karley Dobis topped junior Maria Mancini, 3&2.
In the fifth and final match, freshman Alix Kong defeated Morgan Nadaline 1 up.
The Hoosiers went 1-1 in Saturday's match play action, defeating Northern Illinois 4-1 and falling to Illinois, 5-0. The matches vs. Illinois were unable to be completed until Sunday morning due to darkness. The match between Tong and Illinois' Samantha Postillion went to 22 holes before Postillion prevailed 1 up.
Additionally, Sanjuan and Illinois' Stephanie Miller played to 19 holes with Miller winning 1 up.
Illinois won the match play title, defeating Fresno State, 5-0. Boston College took fifth with a 3-2 win over Illinois State, and Eastern Michigan seventh with a 3-2 win over Northern Illinois.
The Hoosiers wrap up the fall portion of their 2014-15 schedule with the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, October 26-28 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
