Hoosiers Drop Match at No. 10 Illinois

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Senior Morgan Leach and junior Amelia Anderson led the Indiana volleyball team with eight kills each, but the Hoosiers fell at No. 10 Illinois in three sets, 18-25, 14-25, 19-25 on Friday at Huff Hall.
Sophomore setter Megan Tallman tallied 23 assists in the match and junior libero Courtney Harnish led the Hoosiers with eight digs. Junior middle blocker Awele Nwaeze recorded two blocks in the contest.
After dropping the first two sets, the Hoosiers (12-9, 3-6 Big Ten) found some momentum in set three, taking a 14-13 lead on a service ace from sophomore Allison Hammond. Illinois (15-5, 7-2 Big Ten) responded with an 8-2 run to go up 21-16 and win the three set 25-19.
Up next the Hoosiers travel to Northwestern for a match Saturday at 8:00 p.m. ET at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
