BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The 2014-15 Indiana women's basketball season officially started on Saturday night in Assembly Hall with Hoosier Hysteria.
The Hoosiers took the court first as the evening started with the team working out as the doors opened and the crowd filled into the stands. Head coach Teri Moren, her coaching staff, the support staff and the 2014-15 IU women's basketball team were all then introduced to Hoosier Nation. ESPN's Sage Steele hosted the evening and spoke one-on-one with Moren at half court.
Then it was competition time. Six Hoosiers, Taylor Agler, Larryn Brooks, Tyra Buss, Amanda Cahill, Karlee McBride and Maura Muensterman, competed in a 3-point contest. Cahill knocked down 19 treys in the opening round as Muensterman nailed 17 to earn their spots in the finals. Muensterman would take down her fellow freshman Cahill in the finals to take the 3-point crown.
The men's team then took the floor for introductions, contests and had a brief scrimmage to end the evening.
The IU women's basketball season will begin with an exhibition game in Assembly Hall on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. ET. The first regular season game will take place on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. against Gardner-Webb in Bloomington.
