BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Indiana cross country teams will begin the final stretch of the 2014 schedule on Sunday, Nov. 2 at the Big Ten Championships in Iowa City, Iowa. The meet will take place at the Bill and Jim Ashton Cross Country Course.
The IU men's team, currently ranked 20th nationally, will look to defend its conference title from a year ago. The 2013 Big Ten championship marked the first conference crown for the Hoosier men since 1980. Indiana had four runners finish in the top ten in last year's race at Purdue en route to the title.
IU's quest for a repeat will not come easy as the Big Ten currently has four teams ranked nationally on the men's side including No. 6 Wisconsin, No. 14 Michigan, No. 20 Indiana and No. 22 Michigan State.
On the women's side, the conference boasts five nationally-ranked programs, including three teams in the top 10 led by No. 1 Michigan State. The young Hoosier women's team will look to make some noise against some of the top competitors in the country.
Two races are scheduled for Sunday, beginning with the women's 6K run at 11:45 a.m. ET followed by the men's 8K at 12:45 p.m. ET. Admission is $8 for adults and $3 for youth for pre-sale tickets and $10 for adults and $5 for youth on the day of the event.
