BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Indiana cross country teams will head to Madison, Wis. to compete in the 2014 NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Friday, Nov. 14. The University of Wisconsin will host the event at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course.
The meet will begin at 1 p.m. ET with the women’s 6K race followed by the men’s 10K race at 2 p.m. The top two teams in each race will earn automatic bids into the NCAA Championships on Nov. 22. The top four individual finishers from non-advancing teams will also earn a spot in the national meet. At-large teams advancing on will be selected after regional.
The No. 20 Indiana men’s cross country team is coming off a fourth place finish at the Big Ten Championships on Nov. 2. IU runners Jason Crist (9th place) and Matt Schwartzer (10th) finished in the top 10 in that race to earn Second Team All-Big Ten honors for 2014.
The Hoosier women took sixth place at Big Tens for the second straight year, the team’s best back-to-back finish since 2004 and 2005. Brittany and Bethany Neeley were the top finishers for Indiana at the conference meet. They, along with Amanda Behnke, have been pacing the young Hoosiers all season long and will look to propel the IU women into the NCAA Championships.
