BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- For the second time this season Indiana University head swimming coach Ray Looze has been chosen by USA Swimming to lead the American contingent at an international competition.
It was announced Monday that Looze will serve as the head women's coach for Team USA at the 2015 World University Games, July 4-11, 2015 in Gwangju, South Korea.
Last month it was announced that Looze would serve as head women's coach for Team USA at next month's FINA Short Course World Championships in Doha, Qatar.
A pair of Hoosier swimmers will join Looze in South Korea for the World University Games next summer. Lindsay Vrooman, who completed her eligibility this past spring, was named to the team in the 400-meter and 800-meter freestyle. On the men's side James Wells, who also ended his tenure at IU this past season, made the team in the 100-meter backstroke.
At next month's FINA Short Course World Championships, Vrooman and Cody Miller will join Looze. Vrooman will again swim in the 400-meter and 800-meter freestyle, while Miller, the reigning national champion in the 100-meter breaststroke, will swim the 50, 100 and 200-meter breaststroke.
This year's Hoosier squad is back in action December 4-6 at the AT&T USA Swimming Winter Nationals in Greensboro, North Carolina. A group of Indiana athletes will also take part in the Hoosierland Invitational, December 5-6 at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center in Bloomington.
